Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Varnit Negi directed officials to treat drinking water supply as the district’s top priority during a District Water and Sanitation Mission meeting on Thursday. He ordered speedy completion of ongoing water projects and insisted that water from rented private borewells must be tested before public use. Negi asked authorities to stop unsafe borewells immediately and provide tanker water to affected villages. He also instructed officials to clean overhead tanks every month, repair leaking pipelines within 24 hours, and conduct weekly reviews in drought-hit rural areas to ensure uninterrupted summer water supply for all residents.
