A 23-year-old woman from Mumbai was arrested for allegedly creating a disturbance at a five-star hotel on Palace Road and later assaulting police personnel at a station in the city.
The accused, identified as Taniya Dhila, had come to Bengaluru to attend an event at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. According to a complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Lakshmi, the police helpline (112) received a distress call about a commotion at the Shangri-La Hotel Bengaluru.
A Hoysala patrol team, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Samiullah and Constable Ramesh Putti, rushed to the spot and found the woman arguing with hotel staff. Despite efforts to pacify her, she allegedly continued shouting and refused to cooperate with authorities.
Police said the situation escalated after she was brought to the station, where she allegedly turned violent. She is accused of pulling the complainant’s hair, tearing her uniform and physically assaulting her. Two women constables who intervened — Sunitha and Najeema Mabusab Nadaf — were also attacked, with one reportedly bitten on the hand.
During the incident, the accused allegedly used abusive language against the officers, further aggravating the situation. A medical examination conducted on suspicion of substance use reportedly confirmed the presence of marijuana in her system. A subsequent test at a private hospital also indicated drug consumption.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections related to voluntarily causing hurt, assaulting a public servant and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace. Charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act have also been invoked.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and take appropriate legal action.
