The department of business administration at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) organised ‘Zephyr-2026’, a national-level UG and PG management fest, on May 6 at Kalam Auditorium. The one-day event revolved around the theme Game of Thrones – Lead, Conquer & Rule and drew participation from 15 colleges across and around Mangaluru.
The programme began with a prayer by the MBA choir, followed by the formal inauguration. Vincent Cutinha, managing director of Provit Foods Pvt Ltd, attended as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Dr Rio D’Souza, Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, Dr Prakash Pinto, along with faculty convenor Nelson Marwin Fernandes and student coordinators Rahul Puthran and Vaishnavi Shetty.
Welcoming the gathering, Vaishnavi Shetty set the tone for the event. The dignitaries inaugurated the fest by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his address, Vincent Cutinha highlighted key leadership qualities and encouraged students to embrace challenges, take calculated risks, and view success as a journey shaped by repeated failures.
Dr. Rio D’Souza explained the meaning of “Zephyr” as a gentle, refreshing breeze, linking it to resilience and growth after setbacks. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, in his presidential remarks, urged students to learn, grow, and inspire others while emphasizing humility and ethical leadership.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Rahul Puthran, while Leesha Rodrigues and Lerina D’Souza compered the programme. The fest then moved into a series of competitive events, including business quiz, best manager, HR, finance, and marketing contests, showcasing talent and managerial skills among participating students.
