International Museum Day 2026

In connection with International Museum Day on May 18, 2026, a special programme titled “Museums on Wheels” will be organised in Mysuru under the ICOM 2026 theme, “Museums Uniting a Divided World.”
The Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage has arranged this initiative to provide students, researchers, history enthusiasts and the general public an opportunity to visit selected museums.
The programme will be inaugurated at 8:00 AM on May 18 at the Wellington Government Museum and Art Gallery, Irwin Road, Mysuru. The tour will proceed to the Regional Museum of Natural History, Payana (Car Museum), and the Railway Museum, before concluding at the Wellington Government Museum and Art Gallery.
Participants will be taken by bus to these museums, where they will be introduced to the antiquity, literary, and cultural significance of various artefacts on display. The programme is open to school and college students, researchers, history enthusiasts, and the general public aged between 10 and 60 years.
