Agriculture Society president raises school regulation issue

Maheshwarappa urged publishing illegal school details, ensuring accountability, and protecting students, parents, and teachers through stricter education department oversight and awareness

CHITRADURGA

District Agricultural Society president N.R. Maheshwarappa has directed the education department to take strict legal action against unauthorized schools operating in the district.

He gave these instructions while presiding over the executive committee meeting held at the office of the Joint Director of Agriculture in Chitradurga.

He said several private schools are misleading parents by falsely claiming affiliation with CBSE or ICSE boards while actually running different syllabi. He called it a serious fraud and urged officials to publish a list of such schools before the next academic admissions begin.

He also said action must be taken against schools that violate rules on minimum infrastructure, safety standards and land requirements. He warned that some institutions are running multiple syllabi on the same campus, which is against regulations.

Maheshwarappa suggested that details of illegal schools should be published in newspapers to protect students and parents from deception. He also urged education officials to ensure accountability and protect the interests of both teachers and students.

District Agricultural Society treasurer Bhakta Prahlad raised concerns about protection of government school property and said encroachment of school land must be prevented. He also suggested proper registration of donated lands and stronger monitoring of school assets.

The meeting also discussed strengthening Karnataka Public Schools in rural areas to improve access to education.

Officials from the animal husbandry department informed that vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease has been carried out for around 90,000 cattle in the district. They said cattle are now being registered using a digital 12-digit Aadhaar-based tagging system for better tracking.

They also announced that insurance compensation for livestock deaths has been revised, with higher support for cattle and small animals.

Members of the society also proposed forming a separate milk union for Chitradurga district and promoting sericulture through training and awareness programs for farmers. Officials said silk farming is being carried out across thousands of hectares in the district with government support and subsidies.

The meeting concluded with a focus on improving agriculture, education standards, and rural development through better enforcement and planning.
