Fr John Alwyn Dias has been appointed provincial minister of St Fidelis Province, North India, by the Capuchin general minister in Rome, effective May 1. He brings extensive pastoral and academic experience, having previously led the Holy Trinity Province of Karnataka-Goa from 2019 to 2025. Educated in Bangalore, Mysore, Paris and Leuven, he holds a PhD in theology and has published research on John Henry Newman. He has served in missions across Nagaland and Ujire, contributed to formation programmes in France, and held leadership roles in religious administration. His appointment marks a new phase of leadership for a province covering several northern Indian states. Office begins on May 1.
