A hockey training camp organised by the Ballamavati Nalnadu Hockey Club at the Netaji High School playground in Ballamavati was inaugurated by senior Kodagu hockey player and Wanderers Club coach Koter Naniyappa.
Speaking on the occasion, Naniyappa said students should participate in training camps with the same discipline and enthusiasm as they show in academic studies. He stressed that sports are as essential as education for building a balanced and successful life.
He added that regular participation in sports helps develop discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness, which are crucial for personal growth. Students were encouraged to take training seriously and make the best use of such opportunities.
Club president Karavanda Suresh, Appachettolanda Doli Bopayya, Nuchchimaneyanda Ganesh, and camp coordinator Appachettolanda Manu Muthappa were present at the inauguration. Several other members of the club and local sports enthusiasts also attended the programme.
Organisers said the training camp aims to nurture young hockey talent in the region and promote sports culture among school students. They highlighted the importance of consistent practice and guidance from experienced players.
The event witnessed participation from coaches, former players, and community members who supported the initiative to strengthen grassroots-level hockey in Kodagu.
The programme concluded with encouragement for students to balance both education and sports effectively for overall development.
