Authorities have decided to release water from the Tungabhadra reservoir into the Left Bank Main Canal to fill lakes in Koppal and Raichur districts, aiming to address drinking water needs in urban and rural areas. The decision has been taken based on water availability in the Tungabhadra reservoir for the 2025–26 water year, following directions issued by the Regional Commissioner of Kalaburagi. The move is intended to ensure adequate storage of drinking water in lakes located within municipal limits and villages across both districts. Officials stated that water will be released into the Tungabhadra Left Bank Main Canal as per a fixed schedule. Engineers, including Executive Engineers and Assistant Executive Engineers.
