Claims of time limit on Pink Saheli cards a lie: Delhi CM

New Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday dismissed rumours about the ‘Pink Saheli Card’, stating that it is functioning properly and claims about its misuse are false. She said some political groups are spreading misinformation for propaganda.

Gupta clarified that women can use the card multiple times for bus travel without any issue. She assured that the system is working smoothly and beneficiaries need not worry. Taking a dig at Aam Aadmi Party, she said the opposition is “annoyed” by welfare schemes aimed at women.

The ‘Pink Saheli Card’ has been introduced under the National Common Mobility Card framework, offering free bus travel to eligible women and transgender residents. It also allows paid travel on Metro and regional transit systems through a single smart card.

The scheme is one of four welfare initiatives recently launched by President Droupadi Murmu at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The other schemes include free LPG cylinders during festivals, Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, and Meri Punji Mera Adhikaar.

Under the LPG scheme, financial assistance will be directly transferred to bank accounts of eligible families. The Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana aims to support girls by depositing funds that can grow to over Rs 1 lakh by age 21.

Gupta said these schemes will improve safety, accessibility, and financial security for citizens, especially women, and added that the government is committed to transparent and effective welfare delivery across Delhi.
