The Police department has issued the guidelines in the interest of public safety and avoid any untoward incidents

As the countdown to the New Year celebrations begins, the Bengaluru Police has taken an important decision. Alerted by the recent incident at a pub in Goa, the police have issued strict guidelines for the New Year celebrations to be held on December 31. These guidelines will be applicable to all places hosting events, including hotels, bars, pubs, and restaurants.
The City Police has issued 19-point guidelines, most notably a complete ban on bursting of firecrackers at event venues. The police have warned of strict action if these rules are violated. The Khaki force is set to implement further strict measures after the Goa pub tragedy.
Permission from the relevant departments is mandatory for the programs. Also, the time and noise limit set for the New Year celebrations must be strictly adhered to.
Tickets/passes should be distributed as space permits. Events cannot be held on the ground floor, parking lot, or terrace. Checking of those coming to the event should be done and suspicious persons should be informed to the police. If drug use is found at the venue, the local police should be informed immediately. If drugs are found during a police raid, a case will also be registered against the owner/manager of the building.
Fire extinguishers should be installed and exit doors should be large. CCTV cameras should be installed at every venue of the event and footage should be collected for at least 30 days. Large numbers of female private security guards should be appointed at venues where women are present. Agencies deploying security guards and bouncers should be registered with ‘PSARA’.
If celebrities, DJs, or actors are invited, their information must be provided to the local police station.
No liquor is allowed in unlicensed outdoor venues. No group gatherings or illegal private parties are allowed in hotel rooms. Any untoward incident should be reported to the police immediately.
The Police have taken these strict measures to prevent any untoward incidents during the New Year celebrations. The organizers have been clearly warned that violation of the rules will lead to strict legal action.
