New Delhi
External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar will co-chair the 16th Joint Commission and the 5th Strategic Dialogue with the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi on Monday, marking another significant step in strengthening India’s engagement with key partners in West Asia. The meetings will be held with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, following Jaishankar’s participation in the Sir Bani Yas Forum, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed.
According to the MEA, the Joint Commission and Strategic Dialogue will focus on reviewing the full spectrum of India-UAE relations, including political cooperation, trade and investment, energy, defence, technology, and people-to-people ties. India and the UAE share a comprehensive strategic partnership, and these high-level interactions are expected to further deepen cooperation across multiple sectors of mutual interest.
After concluding his engagements in the UAE, EAM Jaishankar will travel to Israel, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral consultations with his Israeli counterpart, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar. The visit comes at a time of heightened regional tensions and underscores India’s continued diplomatic engagement with Israel and the broader West Asian region.
Ahead of his visit, Jaishankar on Monday extended warm greetings to Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and the people of Israel on the occasion of Hanukkah. In a post on social media platform X, the External Affairs Minister wrote, Warmest wishes to FM Gideon Sa’ar, friends in Israel and all those celebrating Hanukkah around the world. May the Festival of Lights bring peace, hope, and joy to all. Chag Sameach! Responding to the message, Gideon Sa’ar expressed appreciation, replying, Thank you, dear friend!
Later in the evening, Jaishankar strongly condemned a deadly terrorist attack targeting Jewish people celebrating the first day of Hanukkah at Bondi Beach in Australia. The attack claimed several innocent lives and drew widespread international condemnation.
