KN Rajanna mocks ongoing breakfast meetings

KN Rajanna mocks CM–DyCM breakfast meetings, linking them to matchmaking rituals, says no major political changes expected unless high command intervenes

Tumakuru

Former minister KN Rajanna took a jibe at the recent breakfast meetings between the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, comparing them to traditional matchmaking rituals. Speaking to the media in Tumakuru, he said that just like families first visit to see the bride and then the groom, these meetings too follow a similar pattern. Whatever is already happening will simply continue and nothing will reverse, he remarked.

Rajanna added that in villages, rituals like offering sheep or chicken are performed to restore peace, suggesting that similar symbolic gestures seem to be taking place in political circles as well. He reiterated that he does not expect any major changes unless directed by the high command. He also stated that the cabinet expansion is likely to take place only after the Belagavi session.

Responding to demands for a Dalit Chief Minister, Rajanna said that if Siddaramaiah were to be removed, then G. Parameshwara should naturally be considered for the role.

On the controversy around his son Rajendra meeting BJP ministers, Rajanna clarified that Rajendra is a senior director at KRIBHCO, which, along with IFFCO, is among the largest cooperative institutions in Asia. Such meetings with the Union Cooperation Ministry are routine and involve many directors, not just his son. He urged people not to attach unnecessary political meaning to it.

Commenting on Congress MLAs travelling to Delhi amid the leadership tussle, he said their efforts have neither succeeded nor failed, indicating the situation remains fluid.
