Srirangapatna
A grand Hanuman Malaadhari devotional procession took place in Srirangapatna on Wednesday, drawing hundreds of devotees from the district and neighboring regions. The event began at the Niminamb Temple on the outskirts of the town and proceeded toward the Sriranganathaswamy Temple, featuring a vibrant parade of Hanuman and Lord Rama idols accompanied by devotional singing.
As a precautionary measure, the district administration and police deployed tight security across the town to ensure smooth conduct of the procession. District officials, including District Commissioner Dr. Kumar and SP Mallikarjun Baldandi, emphasized the need for peace, urging participants to maintain discipline throughout the event. Over a thousand police personnel were assigned, with CCTV cameras installed to monitor the proceedings. ASP Timmayya supervised additional security arrangements.
Tensions arose near the Jamia Masjid when some participants tried to enter the mosque premises, while others sat on the road during devotional singing. The police quickly intervened to control the crowd and prevent any escalation. Additional precautions were also taken near the Hazrat Sayyid Jahoor Sha Wali Dargah area to avoid untoward incidents.
Despite the minor incidents, the procession concluded peacefully, showcasing the vibrant religious fervor of the community while highlighting the importance of careful planning, proactive policing, and coordination between civic authorities and devotees to maintain harmony during large gatherings.
