Sinner, Zverev Cruise into Paris Masters Quarters as Shelton, Bublik Shine

Jannik Sinner stayed flawless and Alexander Zverev impressed again as both advanced into the Paris Masters quarter-finals.

Jannik Sinner eased past Francisco Cerundolo 7-5, 6-1 at the Paris Masters to set up a quarter-final clash with Ben Shelton, while defending champion Alexander Zverev continued his title defence with a straight-sets win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

A maiden crown in Paris would see Sinner reclaim the world No. 1 spot after Carlos Alcaraz’s early exit to Cameron Norrie. The Italian four-time Grand Slam champion, yet to drop a set in the tournament, is chasing his fifth title of the season.

“The first set was crucial; Francisco is a tough opponent,” Sinner said. “In the second set I raised my level and I’m happy to be in my first Paris quarter-final.”

Shelton, meanwhile, stunned Russia’s Andrey Rublev 7-6 (8/6), 6-3 to secure his first ATP Finals berth. “It’s been a year of ups and downs,” Shelton said. “This achievement feels special.”

Zverev, the German third seed, ousted Spain’s Davidovich Fokina 6-2, 6-4 to set up a last-eight encounter with Daniil Medvedev, who edged Lorenzo Sonego in three sets. “Daniil beats me most of the time — he’s my kryptonite,” Zverev admitted.

Elsewhere, Alexander Bublik shocked fourth seed Taylor Fritz 7-6 (7/5), 6-2 and will face Australia’s Alex de Minaur, who cruised past Karen Khachanov. Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime also advanced, rallying past Germany’s Daniel Altmaier 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to stay in contention for the final ATP Finals spot.
