70 PU lecturers still assigned survey duty despite CM’s directive

Bengaluru

Even after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah instructed teachers and lecturers involved in the examination to refrain from survey work, the fact that 70 lecturers have been assigned to survey work in Bengaluru North and Bengaluru South has raised eyebrows among many.

Ningegowda, President of the Karnataka Pre-University Lecturers’ Association, said that more than 700 lecturers have been assigned to survey duty in Bengaluru. Therefore, we have contacted the director of the Pre-University Education Department and urged the PU lecturers to drop out of the survey. The mid-term exams for PU students have started from October 10 to 18. He said that this is because apart from the survey, the lecturers have to attend examination duty in their colleges.

This move of the government has caused hardship to the college and the lecturers. They have been advised to engage in examination duty in the morning and review work in the afternoon. This will increase the burden on the lecturers. Thus, the college principals will face a situation where they will have to assign others for examination duty. He said that he is confident that the government will release these lecturers from duty after understanding the situation.

Director of School Education S Bharat said that a letter has been written to Greater Bangalore Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao requesting him to release the lecturers from survey duty. Most of them have been released from duty in Bengaluru. However, about 70 people, including 55 in Bengaluru North and 15 in Bengaluru South, have not yet been released from the survey. They have been requested to be released as soon as possible, he said.

The Director of School Education responded, this has come to my attention. There was no information about these lecturers in the list of lecturers submitted to GBA last week. That is why they were not removed from duty. Now we have written a letter to the Commissioner of Greater Bengaluru Authority again. They have said that the lecturers will be removed from duty soon.
