Speaker to Attend 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference

Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker, Shri Basavaraj Horatti, will represent the state at the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, scheduled from October 6 to 10 in Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, a Caribbean nation and member of the British Commonwealth.
The conference will host distinguished participants, including parliamentary speakers, deputy chairpersons, legislative assembly speakers from various states, ministers, political analysts, policy experts, and international delegates. Over four days, the event will feature discussions, panels, and dialogues on topics such as strengthening democracy, non-partisan functioning of legislatures, financial autonomy for legislative bodies, transparency, and effective governance.
Speaker Horatti is set to present papers and share insights in key sessions on “The Role of Legislatures in Strengthening Democracy,” “Trust and Transparency in Democratic Governance,” “Financial Transparency in Elections,” and “Best Practices in Governance, Multi-Party Cooperation, and Strengthening International Relations through the Commonwealth.”
Thousands of delegates, including political leaders, policy experts, and parliamentarians from around the world, are expected to participate in this prestigious conference. Shri Horatti has already commenced his journey and is scheduled to arrive in Bridgetown on October 5 to attend the opening sessions.
