DAVANAGERE
A woman was brutally attacked with sharp weapons while alone at her home near Kariganur Cross in Davanagere district, and gold ornaments valued at around Rs 16 lakh were stolen.
Her husband, Umapati, found her unconscious upon returning home and immediately alerted neighbors, who took her to SS Hi-Tech Hospital for treatment.
Davangere Superintendent of Police Uma Prashant visited the crime scene. A case has been registered at Hadadi police station, and CCTV footage from the vicinity is under review. Three police teams have been formed to apprehend the culprits.
The attack is believed to be targeted, as the woman was alone at home. The SP urged residents to be cautious when inviting strangers, ensure CCTV cameras are functional, and inform police when leaving home. She also encouraged participation in the “Mitra Pade” community safety initiative.
