AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi will commence his party’s Bihar Assembly election campaign from today with the ‘Seemanchal Nyay Yatra,’ aimed at highlighting the development needs and justice demands of the Seemanchal region. The yatra will run until September 27, covering key constituencies across the region.

The campaign will begin in Kishanganj and traverse constituencies including Thakurganj, Bahadurganj, Pothia, Powakhali, Lohagara Hat, and LRP Chowk, concluding at Janata Hat. On subsequent days, Owaisi will address roadshows and corner meetings in Kochadaman, Jokihat, Araria, Purnia, Baisi, Amour, Katihar, Balrampur, Kadwa, and Pranpur constituencies, emphasizing regional development and backwardness issues.

Owaisi has long advocated for Seemanchal’s upliftment, including introducing a Private Member’s Bill in the Lok Sabha for a Seemanchal Region Development Council. The AIMIM had contested 19 seats in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, winning five—Amour, Kochadaman, Baisi, Jokihat, and Bahadurganj. Four MLAs later joined the RJD in 2022.

This year, the party intends to expand its electoral footprint, fielding more candidates than in the previous election, with reports suggesting that numerous influential leaders and social workers are ready to contest on AIMIM tickets. The yatra is expected to strengthen AIMIM’s presence in Bihar, mobilize public support, and consolidate its focus on the development and welfare of Seemanchal’s residents.
