“It has been decided to provide a life insurance benefit of 21 lakh to the families of dairy farmers who supply milk to milk producers’ cooperatives on a daily basis,” announced BEMUL President and MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi.
Speaking while presiding over the annual general meeting of the Belgaum District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union for the year 2024-25 held in the city, he said, “Insurance facilities will also be provided to the 35,000 milk producer members who supply milk to the union at a subsidy of 75 percent. The implementation of this new scheme will cost the union about 250 lakh to Rs 60 lakh annually.”

Rubber mats, fodder cutting machines, and milking machines have been distributed to farmers,” he said. The union’s milestone is the opening of 33 new sales centers on a single day, which happened to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
