Dubai

England fast bowler Jofra Archer has made a big leap in the ICC ODI rankings, moving closer to the top after a strong showing against South Africa. Archer picked up eight wickets in the three-match series, including a superb 4/18 in the final game at Southampton. He jumped 16 places to reach third in the updated ODI bowlers rankings.

Archer now trails South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj, the current No. 1, by just 26 rating points. Maharaj also took eight wickets in the same series, helping him keep his top spot.

Adil Rashid, Archer’s teammate, also improved his position, climbing seven spots to eighth on the list.

In batting, England’s Joe Root rose to 19th, Jos Buttler moved to 35th, and young talent Jacob Bethell jumped 56 places to 65th.

In T20I rankings, Pakistan’s bowlers impressed in their tri-series win over UAE and Afghanistan. Sufiyan Muqeem rose to 15th, Shaheen Afridi to 22nd, and Abrar Ahmed to 27th. Mohammad Nawaz, named Player of the Series, moved to 30th.

Among batters, Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman rose to 68th, while Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera moved to ninth. Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza climbed to fourth in the T20I all-rounder rankings.
