Joint CP reviews Mekhri Circle congestion

Authorities Plan Long-Term Measures to Tackle Peak-Hour Traffic Challenges

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bengaluru visited Mekhri Circle on Monday morning to review the peak-hour traffic congestion in the area falling under the Sadashivanagar Traffic Police Station limits.

During the inspection, the senior officer closely observed traffic flow, bottlenecks, and commuter difficulties caused by heavy rush during office hours. Mekhri Circle, one of the city’s busiest junctions, connects key arterial roads leading towards Hebbal, Vidhana Soudha, and other central parts of Bengaluru, making it a critical point for traffic management.

The Joint CP engaged in detailed discussions with the local traffic police team deployed at the junction. Various measures to ease congestion and ensure smoother movement of vehicles were deliberated upon, including streamlining signal timings, optimizing lane usage, and enhancing enforcement against traffic violations that worsen jams. He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among ground staff to manage the surge in vehicular density during peak times, while also urging commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow regulations to minimize delays.

Officials further highlighted that plans are underway to explore long-term solutions such as improving road infrastructure around Mekhri Circle, expanding carriageways, and integrating smart traffic management systems. The visit reflects the city traffic police’s ongoing commitment to improving urban mobility and reducing daily travel hardships for Bengaluru’s residents.
