“Youth power is greater than nuclear power, and with firm determination even the impossible can be achieved,” said Forest, Biology and Environment Minister Eshwar B. Khandre. He urged young people to dedicate themselves to the nation’s progress and channel their energy toward constructive work.
Speaking at the Youth Conference and the National and State Youth Awards ceremony organised by the Federation of Karnataka Youth Associations at Town Hall on Wednesday, the minister said that with willpower and proper guidance, the youth can bring about social transformation.
Khandre recalled the contributions of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who as a young leader lowered the voting age to 18 and spearheaded India’s communication revolution. Presenting youth awards on his birth anniversary, he noted, was a fitting tribute.
“Our youth are among the best in the world. India’s strength lies in its human resources, which is why the world looks towards us,” he remarked.
He advised young people to stay away from alcohol, drugs, and other addictions, and instead live purposeful lives that contribute to society. The theme of the event, ‘Youth Marching Towards Nationalism,’ was particularly relevant in today’s context, he added.
Congratulating award winners from diverse fields including sculpture, folk arts, theatre, and sports, Khandre encouraged youth not to succumb to depression but to remain engaged in creative and positive pursuits.
