“Due to chemical changes in the brain, anyone can get mental illness regardless of gender. Leave superstitions and get treatment for mental illness,” said Taluk Health Officer Dr BV Girish. He was speaking at a mental health programme organized under the Swasthanari Sashakta Parivar Abhiyan at Nehru Nagar Anganwadi Center on Wednesday.
He said that when there is a change in thoughts in the head, if there is severe distress, then the disease can be controlled by getting tested by a psychiatrist, getting treatment. District Health Education Officer Krishna Nayak said that if there are fluctuations in physical functions, abnormal and strange experiences, one should get treatment and maintain good health.
Taluk Health Education Officer B Moogappa spoke and created awareness that by changing lifestyle and participating in physical activities, and bringing peace of mind through yoga, meditation, etc., one can stay away from mental illness.
Dr Syed Bilal of Nehrunagar Health Center, Health Inspectors Hanumanthappa, Praveen Kumar, Rekha, ASHA workers Vani, Dyamakka, Attar Fatima, Anganwadi workers Annapurna, Assistant Netravati and others were present at the program.
