A comprehensive 100-week anti-drug initiative titled ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan’ was formally inaugurated at the St. Agnes Convention Hall on Monday, aiming to shield youth from substance abuse and support the national vision of Developed India by 2047.
Organized jointly by MY Bharat Dakshina Kannada, the National Service Scheme unit, and the Women’s Cell of St. Agnes College, the gathering centered on building an addiction-free society through sustained student action. Addressing the assembly, Dr. Aruna Yadiyal, Professor of Psychiatry at Father Muller Medical College, cautioned attendees about the severe neurological and mental damage triggered by narcotics. She urged young learners to cultivate positive habits and prioritize personal well-being to avoid falling into destructive traps.
MY Bharat Deputy Director Ullas K.T. called upon students to demonstrate dynamic social leadership, emphasizing that national development depends heavily upon healthy, responsible citizens. Explaining the operational framework, NSS Project Officer Dr. Udayakumar noted that the 100-week roadmap will systematically drive peer-to-peer awareness programs across educational campuses.
Participants took a solemn pledge to reject narcotics and actively promote substance-free lifestyles within local neighborhoods. The gathering also featured a massive signature drive alongside expressive street plays that illustrated how substance dependency shatters families, health, and bright professional futures. College organizers, community mentors, and faculty members reaffirmed their shared dedication to carrying the campaign across regional colleges throughout the coming academic terms.
