Hosahalli C. Mohan Kumar was elected unopposed as the new vice president of Taggikuppe Gram Panchayat on Monday, following the formal resignation of previous incumbent Ramusing.
Election returning officer Renukesh announced the uncontested result after no rival nomination papers were submitted. Enthusiastic supporters and local party workers celebrated the victory outside the office by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.
Speaking after his declaration, Mohan Kumar pledged to work tirelessly for comprehensive village progress under the guidance of district leaders and Cooperation Minister H.C. Balakrishna. He emphasized that his foremost priority is securing government grants to fix drinking water scarcity, construct proper concrete drainage channels, and resolve persistent sanitation issues. He promised to deliver basic civic amenities to all residents without any bias.
Block Congress President K. Krishnamurthy noted that non-partisan cooperation made the unanimous choice possible. He explained that the presidency remains reserved for women, while the vice president position was earmarked for backward classes. Though three eligible candidates emerged, party leaders reached an amicable consensus to offer the crucial post to Mohan Kumar to accelerate pending infrastructure works across the rural jurisdiction.
Krishnamurthy urged the newly appointed leadership to maintain complete unity among all members, obtain timely funds from state authorities, and speed up critical developmental initiatives. Addressing drinking water scarcity must receive absolute priority, he stressed, advising the council to coordinate systematically to ensure long-term public relief. Transparent administration and continuous public engagement will remain vital for transforming the area into an exemplary model panchayat.
Panchayat president Padma, members Rajanna, Murulidhara, Bairappa, Batamma, Tejaswini, Ramesh, and dedicated local elders warmly congratulated the new appointee. With bipartisan backing established, villagers anticipate meaningful governance, modern roads, and timely solutions to longstanding civic grievances across the entire rural region under this united and progressive leadership team.
