Hubballi Ganesh Mandals flag road concerns

Hubballi

Ganesh mandals in Hubballi have raised concerns over poor road conditions and ongoing flyover construction work ahead of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Organisers said damaged roads, construction activity and incomplete infrastructure could create difficulties for Ganesh idol processions and cause inconvenience to devotees and the public.

Representatives of various Ganesh mandals have urged civic authorities to take immediate steps to repair damaged roads and ensure that important procession routes are accessible. They said large idols will be transported through several parts of the city during the festival, making good roads and proper traffic arrangements essential.

The ongoing flyover works have added to the concerns of organisers. Construction-related diversions and restricted road space could make it difficult for processions to move smoothly, particularly on busy routes. Mandals have sought better coordination between civic authorities, traffic police and construction agencies to avoid unnecessary disruptions during the celebrations.

The issue was discussed with civic officials, with organisers stressing the need for advance preparations. Authorities have been urged to identify important procession routes and address potholes, damaged stretches and other obstacles before the festival begins.

The mayor also directed officials to take necessary measures to clean Ganapati immersion ponds and prepare artificial immersion tanks wherever required. Officials were asked to ensure that adequate facilities are available for devotees to immerse idols safely and without inconvenience.

Arrangements for lighting, cleanliness, drinking water, traffic management and crowd control are also expected to receive attention as the festival approaches. Ganesh Chaturthi attracts large crowds in Hubballi, with numerous mandals organising cultural programmes and processions.

Mandals said timely action by civic authorities would help ensure peaceful and orderly celebrations. They urged officials to complete priority road repair works and make suitable arrangements around construction zones.

With the festival drawing closer, Ganesh mandals have called for close coordination between all concerned departments. Organisers said proper planning and infrastructure preparations would help prevent traffic congestion, protect devotees and ensure smooth movement of idols during processions and immersion activities.
