The MLA said Kempegowda’s visionary Bengaluru planning inspired growth, creating a strong foundation for today’s global technology hub

Chitradurga MLA K.C. Veerendra Pappi said that the vision and administrative methods of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda should become an example for today’s politicians, officers, and administrators. He was speaking after offering floral tributes to Kempegowda’s portrait during the Jayanti celebration organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, Kannada and Culture Department, and Municipal Council.
The MLA said Kempegowda’s planned approach while developing Bengaluru centuries ago continues to inspire people even today. He explained that Kempegowda created a strong foundation for Bengaluru, which has now become a globally recognised technology hub. His decision to establish separate markets for different trades showed his understanding of business growth and city planning.
He added that Kempegowda developed Bengaluru by taking inspiration from Hampi, the famous city of the Vijayanagara Empire. Along with promoting trade, he focused on protecting nature and built lakes to support the water needs of citizens. His concern for the environment remains important even in modern times.
The MLA highlighted that Kempegowda believed education was essential for social development. He said the leader worked towards creating better opportunities for future generations and encouraged everyone to follow his ideals.
During the event, Veerendra Pappi also spoke about various government welfare schemes. He said financial support has been provided to eligible beneficiaries through self-employment programmes, vehicle assistance schemes, and borewell facilities under different initiatives. He encouraged people to make proper use of these opportunities.
Additional Deputy Commissioner B.T. Kumaraswamy said Kempegowda was not only a leader but also an able administrator and visionary thinker. His efforts in creating planned areas, promoting agriculture, developing markets, and constructing lakes provide valuable lessons for present-day officials.
Dr. S. Soumya said Bengaluru’s growth as an international business and education centre reflects Kempegowda’s long-term vision. She described him as a leader who combined economic planning, public welfare, and environmental care.
The programme also included recognition of students who won essay, poetry, painting, and speech competitions based on Kempegowda’s life and achievements. Several officials, public representatives, and cultural personalities participated in the celebration.
The event concluded with cultural performances and messages encouraging citizens to protect Kempegowda’s legacy of development, planning, and social responsibility.
