Domestic workers arrested for gold theft

In a major breakthrough, Bengaluru city police apprehended domestic workers within the Siddapura Police Station limits for their alleged involvement in the theft of gold and silver articles from a private residence. The accused reportedly exploited their trusted positions in the household to carry out the theft, targeting valuables kept in the home.

During the investigation, police successfully recovered a total of 67 grams of gold ornaments and 300 grams of silver items, with the combined market value estimated at approximately ₹7 lakh. Authorities confirmed that the stolen items were being held by the suspects and had not yet been sold, enabling a swift recovery and minimizing financial loss to the victim.

The Siddapura Police conducted detailed questioning of the accused and are examining whether they acted alone or were part of a wider network of thieves operating in the city. Officers emphasized that domestic theft cases require special attention due to the access and trust domestic staff enjoy in households, making vigilance crucial for residents.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to theft and criminal breach of trust. Citizens are advised to safeguard valuable items, maintain proper records, and exercise caution while hiring household help.

The successful apprehension of the suspects demonstrates Bengaluru city police’s proactive efforts to combat property crimes and protect residents from internal and external threats, reinforcing public confidence in law enforcement. Authorities have also called for community awareness to prevent similar incidents in the future.
