GBA reviews city roads and sewer management

Officials Urged to Boost Infrastructure Efficiency and Public Safety

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) held a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the maintenance and management of roads and major sewer lines across its five city municipalities. The session, chaired by Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao, brought together senior officials to assess ongoing infrastructure works and provide necessary directives for improved service delivery.

During the meeting, all municipal commissioners—including Rajendra Cholan, Ramesh D.S., Pommal Sunil Kumar, Ramesh K.N., and Dr. Rajendra K.V.—participated along with deputy and joint commissioners. Technical directors, chief engineers, and other key officers from the Bismail division were also present, contributing insights on current challenges and proposed solutions.

Officials discussed the condition of arterial roads and the functioning of large-scale sewerage systems, emphasizing timely repairs and preventive maintenance to reduce disruption to residents. The meeting focused on enhancing coordination between municipal bodies, streamlining operations, and implementing best practices for infrastructure management.

The Chief Commissioner instructed officials to prioritize areas facing chronic drainage issues and deteriorating road conditions, while also ensuring that public safety standards are strictly adhered to. He further directed that technical teams carry out thorough inspections and submit progress reports to the GBA headquarters within stipulated timelines.

Officials agreed on a structured plan to monitor road and sewer projects more efficiently, with special attention to densely populated zones. The meeting concluded with a commitment to faster response times and improved civic amenities for Bengaluru residents, reflecting the authority’s focus on sustainable urban management and accountability across all five city municipalities.
