DHARWAD
A 29-year-old undertrial prisoner was found dead inside Dharwad Central Jail on Saturday, in an apparent case of suicide. The deceased, identified as Mahantesh Kumbara from Nargund in Gadag district, was in judicial custody in a POCSO case and had recently been shifted from Gadag jail. Police said he was found hanging inside the prison under unclear circumstances. Jail authorities immediately informed the police, and a team conducted a preliminary inspection at the spot. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to examine possible lapses in jail security and supervision. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
