Dale Steyn picks Chahal as best RCB bowler

New Delhi

Cricket legend Dale Steyn has officially weighed in on the greatest bowlers to ever wear the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) jersey. The former South African pace ace revealed his all-time top five list, placing spin wizard Yuzvendra Chahal at the very top.

Steyn praised Chahal’s incredible consistency, noting that he remains the franchise’s leading wicket-taker with 139 scalps. “He strikes every 17 balls,” Steyn remarked, highlighting the leg-spinner’s knack for changing games. Taking the second spot was current star Josh Hazlewood, whose “magical” strike rate caught Steyn’s eye.

The list continued with Australian speedster Mitchell Starc at number three, followed by Harshal Patel at four. Steyn pointed out that Patel’s ability to take wickets at crucial moments made him a vital part of RCB’s history. Rounding out the top five was the legendary Anil Kumble. Steyn gave special credit to Kumble for mastering the difficult, high-scoring conditions at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during his captaincy years.

This trip down memory lane comes at a perfect time for fans. RCB is currently enjoying a dream season in IPL 2026, remaining undefeated so far. As the current squad makes its own history, Steyn’s list serves as a tribute to the icons who paved the way for the team’s ongoing success on the field.
