India named most affordable office design market

NEW DELHI

India has officially been ranked as the most cost-effective place in the Asia Pacific region to set up and design modern offices.

A new report by Cushman & Wakefield reveals that building high-quality workspaces in India costs a fraction of what companies pay in other major global cities.

While cities like Tokyo charge a staggering $215 per square foot to fit out an office, Indian markets range between just $65 and $73. This massive price gap makes India a magnet for global companies looking to build top-tier offices without breaking the bank. Even compared to neighbors like Singapore and Sydney, India offers a much better balance of quality and price.

The report highlights that India isn’t just cheap; it’s also incredibly productive. Nearly two-thirds of the office demand in the entire region comes from India’s top eight cities. Currently, half of all office construction in the Asia Pacific is happening right here in India. This shows that while other countries are slowing down, India is building faster than ever. Mumbai remains the most expensive Indian city for office setups at $73 per square foot, driven by high demand from international banks and tech hubs. However, experts say India’s consistency across different cities gives it a unique edge. As businesses worldwide look to create better, “experience-led” workplaces for their employees, India’s ability to deliver luxury designs at a low cost is cementing its status as a global favorite for corporate headquarters.
