Genelia Deshmukh makes a grand return to the south after a decade

Must read

Genelia Deshmukh, who has found tremendous success in Telugu and Tamil cinema between 2003 and 2012, is all set to make a comeback to the south. The actor will soon be playing a key role in Kireeti Reddy’s debut film and she took to social media a short while ago to express joy over her re-entry to acting in south films. “A place I call home away from home,” wrote Genelia in the endearing post in which she also thanked the makers for the special part in the Kannada-Telugu bilingual.

Having stepped away from the limelight post her marriage with fellow actor Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia sporadically acted in films with her most recent south film being the 2012 film ‘Naa Ishtam’. At the peak of her career, Genelia made her Kannada debut opposite Shiva Rajkumar with the film ‘Satya in Love’ and the upcoming bilingual will mark her return to Kannada cinema. Genelia and Riteish got married in 2012 and have two children together.
Kireeti Reddy, son of industrialist and politician G. Janardhan Reddy, makes his grand entry into cinema with the untitled film written and directed by Radhakrishna Reddy (of the Kannada film ‘Maya Bazaar’ fame). The makers had organized a muhurath event very recently that had filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli as the special guest of honor, who also sounded the clapboard for the very first shot of the film. Sreeleela, who plays the female lead in the film, was seen in attendance along with Genelia and others.

The yet-untitled film has been bankrolled by the Vaaraahi Vahana Chitram banner with Devi Sri Prasad scoring the music and K.K. Senthil Kumar of ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’ fame handling cinematography. Popular action choreographer Peter Hein will lend his services to the film.
