Civic workers show their sporting spirit

They spend their days keeping Mysuru clean. On Wednesday, the city’s sanitation warriors swapped their routine work for a day of races, games, cheers and friendly competition.
The Mysuru City Corporation organised a colourful sports meet for civic workers and sanitation supervisors as part of Civic Workers’ Day celebrations. Workers from different zones of the city turned up in large numbers, filling the venue with enthusiasm and sporting spirit.
Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner M.K. Savitha and Additional Deputy Commissioner Veena inaugurated the sports meet and encouraged the participants to make the most of the occasion.
From 100-metre Dash to Tug-of-War
The event featured a lively mix of competitive and fun-filled contests. The 100-metre race and shot put were conducted separately for men and women, giving participants an opportunity to showcase their speed, strength and sporting skills.
The fun continued with musical chairs, stork race, lemon-and-spoon race and tug-of-war, drawing enthusiastic participation and plenty of cheers. A cricket tournament was also organised as part of the celebrations.
The sports meet was aimed at promoting the physical fitness, mental well-being, sporting spirit and team bonding of civic workers and sanitation supervisors.
Participants threw themselves into the competitions with remarkable enthusiasm, turning the event into a vibrant celebration of camaraderie beyond their daily duties.
For the workers who regularly toil to keep the city clean, the sports meet offered a welcome opportunity to relax, compete, laugh and celebrate together.
Executive Engineer Mrityunjaya, Assistant Executive Engineers, Environmental Engineers, Health Inspectors and other MCC officials and staff were present.
