Won’t tolerate attempts to suppress protests, Shailendra Beldale

CH NEWS, BIDAR

Addressing a joint press conference, BJP State Secretary and MLA Dr Shailendra K Beldale, district President Somanath Patil, former Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba and Bidar City Municipal Corporation member ShashidharHosalli criticised the alleged action against protesters.

They said Hosalli had recently led a protest over issues including the poor condition of roads and the hike in licence fees for street vendors. However, police subsequently issued him a notice asking why a rowdy sheet should not be opened against him, they alleged. The leaders also referred to a similar notice issued to BJP worker Sanju Shinde in Bhalki, following which he was externed to Koppal. They claimed that the court later cancelled the externment order.

BJP workers are being continuously targeted. Hosalli has been acquitted in all the cases against him. Instead of concentrating on development, the Minister is getting cases filed and notices issued. This amounts to misuse of the police department, Beldale alleged. He also referred to cases registered against Dalit protesters and warned that the BJP would launch protests across the State over the issue.

Beldale also questioned Minister Eshwar B Khandre over the functioning of the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS). He claimed that a cath lab constructed at a cost of Rs 15 crore had remained non-functional even a year after its completion. He further alleged that the CT scan facility was not functioning properly and that several diagnostic tests, including blood tests, were unavailable. Referring to a recent visit by Upa-Lokayukta Justice Veerappa, Beldale said the official had reportedly expressed serious concern over the condition of BRIMS. Beldale questioned why the District In-charge Minister had not taken the issue seriously.

Seva Sankalpa Abhiyan convenor Rajshekhar Nagamurthy and leaders Eshwar Singh Thakur, Peerappa Aurade, Babuwali, Basavaraj Pawar and Srinivas Chowdhary were present.
