Govt launches new Market Access Support for exporters

The ministry will create a 3–5 year major events calendar for exporters, mandating at least 35% MSME participation, emphasizing new markets and smaller economies

NEW DELHI
The government on Wednesday launched a new Market Access Support intervention to help Indian exporters reach global buyers and expand overseas business opportunities.

The scheme is part of the Export Promotion Mission, a flagship programme approved by the Union Cabinet in November this year. Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen international market access, especially for MSMEs, first time exporters, and companies from priority sectors. Under the intervention, financial and institutional support will be given for buyer seller meets, global trade fairs, exhibitions, reverse buyer meets in India, and trade delegations abroad.

The ministry will also prepare a three to five year calendar of major events to help exporters plan participation in advance. At least thirty five per cent participation by MSMEs has been made mandatory, with focus on new markets and smaller economies.

Small exporters with turnover up to seventy five lakh rupees will receive partial airfare support to encourage wider inclusion. All processes will be handled online through the trade portal to ensure transparency, easy access, and effective monitoring. Officials said regular feedback from exporters will help refine the guidelines and improve outcomes over time.

The government believes the intervention will improve buyer connections, boost India’s visibility in global markets, support export diversification, and create long term growth opportunities while helping new businesses build confidence, explore unfamiliar regions, reduce entry barriers, and compete more effectively in a challenging international trade environment. Officials added that the programme reflects a long term strategy to strengthen exports and generate employment across regions.  Further updates will be shared as implementation progresses.
