India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, held important meetings with US lawmakers to discuss deeper cooperation in energy, technology, and innovation.
Kwatra met with Senator Brian Schatz, Deputy Secretary of the Senate Democratic Conference and a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. During the meeting, they exchanged views on ongoing defense cooperation and ways to enhance India-US collaboration in energy and technology.
Following the discussion, Kwatra also met US Representative Dina Titus. The two leaders talked about strengthening ties in trade, tourism, and technology. Kwatra expressed gratitude for Titus’s support in promoting stronger relations between the two countries.
In parallel, US Deputy Trade Representative Rick Switzer visited India to meet Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. They discussed trade negotiations, economic and technology partnerships, and ways to boost two-way trade and resilient supply chains. The US delegation, including chief trade negotiator Brendan Lynch, has renewed hopes for completing a long-pending India-US trade deal.
Earlier this week, India and the US conducted Foreign Office Consultations to address key issues such as defense cooperation, energy including civil nuclear collaboration, technology, critical minerals, and trusted supply chains. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific and agreed to accelerate the “COMPACT for the 21st Century” initiative to drive transformative cooperation.
These discussions signal a strengthened partnership, highlighting shared priorities in technology, energy, and trade, while reinforcing mutual commitment to regional stability and economic growth.
