Alia Bhatt honoured with Horizon Award, hints at Alpha risk

Actor Alia Bhatt shone at the Red Sea International Film Festival, where she received the prestigious Golden Globes Horizon Award. The festival also presented a special retrospective of her film journey, celebrating her rise as one of India’s most recognised global talents. Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne shared the announcement online, praising Alia as an exceptional artist whose influence extends across regions, including the Middle East and Asia.

Alia and Tunisian actor Hend Sabry were chosen as this year’s honourees for their outstanding impact in film and television. Thanking the Golden Globes team, Alia said the award was a true honour and meaningful for young performers and women in cinema. She said global storytellers were coming together to create more inclusive and powerful narratives, and she hoped to continue playing strong and deserving female characters. She added that being recognised by the Golden Globes, one of the world’s most iconic award bodies, was deeply encouraging.

During the event, Alia also spoke about her upcoming action film Alpha. She described the project as a risk because it is the first female-led action movie in the Yash Raj Films universe. She said the industry had not seen such films perform like male-led action movies, making Alpha a bold step. The film is the seventh part of the YRF Spy Universe and stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Bobby Deol.

Produced by Yash Raj Films, Alpha is scheduled to release on April 17, 2026, and is expected to set a new benchmark for women-centric action cinema in India.
