PTI condemns “Massacre” of protesters

Islamabad

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party led by former PM Imran Khan, on Wednesday has condemned the actions of Pakistani security forces during a protest rally in Islamabad, calling it a “massacre” under a “brutal, fascist military regime.” The PTI claimed that government forces used extreme force, including live ammunition and snipers, against peaceful protesters, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.

In a statement posted on social media, PTI accused the Pakistani military and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) government of orchestrating violence against its supporters. The party claimed that the attack was deliberate, with the intent to kill as many protesters as possible, labeling the crackdown as an inhuman act. “The nation is drowning in blood,” the statement added, urging the international community to condemn the government’s actions.

The protests, which were calling for the release of Imran Khan, turned violent on Tuesday. Security forces clashed with PTI supporters near Islamabad’s D-Chowk, leading to the deaths of four security personnel and two PTI supporters. The PTI claimed that security forces fired on the protesters, which led to casualties, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack on law enforcement officers.

PM Sharif also called for accountability and justice, emphasizing that assaults on security forces disguised as peaceful protests would not be tolerated. The situation has sparked widespread calls for investigation into the incident.
