Jake Paul stunned the boxing world by defeating legendary Mike Tyson in a unanimous decision at AT&T Stadium, Dallas on Friday night, in a highly anticipated heavyweight bout. The fight, part of a Netflix event, saw Paul dominate after a slow start, with all three judges scoring the fight in his favor: 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73.
Tyson, 58, was making his return to the ring after a 19-year hiatus. Despite the excitement surrounding his comeback, it was Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer with a 10-1 record, who emerged victorious after eight rounds of intense action.
In the opening rounds, Tyson appeared to have the upper hand, landing strong blows and forcing Paul into the corner. However, Paul gradually found his rhythm and began to control the fight. By round four, Tyson’s mobility appeared to falter, and Paul capitalized on the veteran’s fatigue.
Tyson tried to rally in the middle rounds, but Paul maintained his dominance, landing effective jabs and body punches. As the fight progressed, Tyson’s energy waned, and he could not find the momentum needed to turn the tide.
The Texas crowd, initially cheering for Tyson, eventually saw Paul secure a well-deserved win. In a show of respect, Paul bowed to Tyson at the end of the fight, acknowledging the iconic boxer’s legacy.
