Siddesh Lad and Angkrish Raghuvanshi played key roles as Mumbai defeated Services by nine wickets in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match on Saturday. Chasing a modest target of 135, Mumbai easily reached 137/1 in 35.4 overs, thanks to unbeaten fifties from Lad and Raghuvanshi.
Starting the final day at 24/1, Mumbai needed just 111 more runs to win. Lad, who scored 73 not out off 93 balls, and Raghuvanshi, who made 55 not out off 114 balls, put on an unbroken 128-run partnership to see their team home. Lad’s knock included eight fours and two sixes, while Raghuvanshi’s innings featured six boundaries.
With this win, Mumbai moved up to third in the Elite Group A standings with 22 points, just behind Baroda (27) and Jammu & Kashmir (23). Services, who were bowled out for 182 in their second innings, remained in fifth place with 13 points.
The match at Palam Ground saw Services score 240 in their first innings and 182 in their second. Mumbai had earlier posted 288 all out in their first innings. The next round of the Ranji Trophy will begin in January 2025, after the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
