Amidst the controversy surrounding the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), Kiren Rijiju, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, emphasized on Wednesday that stringent action will be taken against those responsible for jeopardizing students’ futures. He announced the enforcement of the anti-paper leak law, the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, ensuring severe consequences for offenders.
In response to events, the Prime Minister has clearly stated that decisive measures have been implemented and will continue to be enforced. We are committed to taking the strongest actions against anyone who undermines students’ futures. Additional measures will follow as needed under the new law, Rijiju stated during a press briefing.
He also criticized the opposition, accusing them of constant criticism against PM Modi without acknowledging the freedom of speech they enjoy. Rijiju condemned the disruption caused by the Congress and its allies during PM Modi’s address in the Lok Sabha, calling it a tradition of the opposition to obstruct the Prime Minister’s speeches.
In a democracy, when the Prime Minister or any leader addresses the House, it is essential for everyone to listen, whether from the ruling party or the opposition. Unfortunately, during the Prime Minister’s recent speech, the Congress and its allies created chaos, disrupting his entire address. This behavior is regrettable because traditionally, the Prime Minister is given uninterrupted time to speak. While some interruptions are expected, preventing him from speaking for the entire two hours with continuous noise and slogans has never occurred before, Rijiju lamented.
He urged the Congress party to respect the Prime Minister’s role as the leader of the nation, emphasizing that his leadership transcends political affiliations and serves the entire country.
