MP Capt Brijesh Chowta visited sea erosion-prone areas in Ullal and Someshwar. Chowta also visited the spot where four members of a family lost their lives after a wall collapsed at Madani Nagar in Kuthar near Ullal. He directed the officials to make arrangements for the payment of compensation at the earliest, to the kin of the deceased. Village-wise surveys should be conducted to identify vulnerable houses, he told the tahsildar.
When the wall collapse incident occurred, the MP was in New Delhi attending the Parliament session. The MP also visited the areas around Someshwar Beach including Uchila, Mogaveerapatna, Battampadi, Seaground that have been affected by sea erosion.
He requested the residents to stay safe and be vigilant and asked the district authorities to take all necessary precautionary measures as well as make temporary arrangements for those in need.
Ullal Tahsildar Pradeep Kurudekar, Port Engineer Praveen, other officials and BJP leaders were present.
