Ilegal Colonies Grow Despite Govt Attempts

Must read

Gurugram

The business of non-regularized plotted colonies on agricultural land continues to grow in Gurugram despite efforts by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) to stop developers of illegal colonies.

Many customers keep investing in these unlawful colonies despite repeated warnings from the Department, risking the loss of their money. Vendors and their agents attract buyers with promises of amenities like spacious plots, well-built roads, sewage connections, and power sources. After selling the plots, dealers often disappear, leaving buyers to deal with the agents.

Recently, the Enforcement branch of the Department demolished five illegal colonies being built on 13.5 acres of land in Ghamroj, Bhondsi, and Sehajawas in the Sohna block. Manish Yadav of DTCP (Enforcement) stated that no new colony will be allowed to develop without approval from the concerned authority. A formal complaint will be filed against the land mafia and landowners. A letter has been sent to the Tehsildar requesting that agricultural land in these illegal colonies not be registered. The landowners will be charged for the demolition expenses.

People are urged not to invest in these unlicensed colonies. Section 7A of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act applies to these illegal colonies. The Town and Country Planning Department’s NOC must be obtained before starting any activity, according to Yadav.
