In response to a corruption allegation filed against Pinarayi Vijayan by Congressman Mathew Kuzhalnadan, the Kerala High Court ordered letters to be issued to both the chief minister and his daughter, Veena Vijayan. The Director General of Prosecution questioned the petition, but after hearing from both sides, the court scheduled further proceedings for July 2 and directed notifications to be sent to CM Vijayan and Veena. Kuzhalnadan, addressing reporters, described this as standard procedure, expressing readiness for the detailed court proceedings ahead.

Opposition Leader VD Satheesan voiced full support for Kuzhalnadan’s legal challenge, endorsed by the Congress party. In May, Kuzhalnadan approached the High Court after his plea for a court-monitored investigation into corruption allegations against Vijayan and his daughter was turned down by the Vigilance Court.

Kuzhalnadan had sought a probe into claims by Veena Vijayan’s IT Company, Exalogic, regarding monthly payments from Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) for mining clearances. The Revenue Department’s action against Kuzhalnadan, involving a resort in Idukki District co-owned by him, added pressure, alleging possession of more land than registered. Several organizations, including the Income Tax Department, SFIO, and ED, have documented statements related to the case raised by the Congress leader last year. An Income Tax Settlement Board statement indicated that Exalogic received Rs 1.72 crore from CMRL.
