Sachin Pilot, a prominent figure in the Congress party, asserted on Monday that the new BJP-led NDA government would face opposition if it attempts to govern arbitrarily following the fractured mandate in the Lok Sabha polls. Speaking in Tonk where he inaugurated a ‘Shaheed Smarak’, Pilot expressed condolences for the lives lost in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district.
He emphasized that despite Modi’s expected third term, the mandate didn’t provide the resounding victory BJP anticipated, with Congress and its allies in the INDIA bloc challenging BJP strongholds like Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Pilot noted the fractured mandate, stating it doesn’t grant any single party the authority to form the government. He highlighted the need for the new government to adopt a different attitude due to the alliance nature of its formation.
Asserting the united stance of the entire opposition, Pilot indicated their readiness to hold the government accountable both inside and outside of parliament.
Regarding the terrorist attack, he condemned the violence against devotees, stressing the urgency for swift action from the police and administration. Pilot underscored the necessity for the government to take decisive action against perpetrators rather than mere condolences. Terrorists ambushed a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in nine deaths and 41 injuries.
