In the wake of the tragic fire incident at Rajkot’s TRP Game Zone, which claimed the lives of 27 individuals, including four children, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has issued a stern directive to gaming arcades across Bengaluru. With numerous gaming centers scattered throughout the city, officials have been tasked with conducting thorough safety inspections at these venues.
Expressing concern over the potential risks posed by such establishments, especially during peak periods such as weekends, Shivakumar highlightedthe necessity of adhering to stringent safety protocols. In a letter addressed to the civic body, he underscored the importance of implementing fail-safe measures to prevent similar disasters from occurring in high-traffic entertainment spaces like gaming zones and shopping malls.
According to Sources, the tragic incident unfolded on Saturday at the game zone situated on Nana-Mava Road in Rajkot, where several individuals, including children, were engaged in gaming activities. The fire quickly engulfed a temporary dome-like structure, leading to its collapse and trapping numerous people underneath.
In response, authorities in Rajkot have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fire. The owner of the establishment has been detained for questioning as part of the ongoing inquiry.
As Bengaluru grapples with the aftermath of this devastating event, efforts are underway to ensure the safety of patrons at gaming arcades and similar recreational venues across the city.
