Turnout In Belagavi, Chikkodi Surpasses 2019 LS Poll Figures

Despite the scorching heat, the voting turnout in district surpassed the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The district comprises two Lok Sabha constituencies, Belagavi and Chikkodi, and a part of the Uttara Kannada constituency. Chikkodi constituency recorded a polling of 78.5 percent, while it was 75.53 percent in 2019. Belagavi constituency saw a voter turnout of 71.38 percent, which was just 67.70 percent in 2019.

Kittur and Khanapur assembly segments, which are in Belagavi district, are part of Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, where the voter turnout was a record 72 pecent, which was 71.42 percent in the 2019 elections.

Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, BJP candidate from Belagavi Lok Sabha seat, cast his vote at the government school in Vishwashwaraiah Nagar in the city, along with his family members.
BJP’s Chikkodi candidate Annasaheb Jolle cast his vote at Examba village along with his wife MLA Shashikala Jolle and family members. Before leaving for the polling station, the family performed gau pooja and pooja of social reformer Basaveshwara.

Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) candidate Mahadev Patil for  Belagavi Lok Sabha seat exercised his vote in Belagavi South area along with his 102-year-old mother and wife. Dr Anjali Nimbalkar took objection to the BJP workers campaigning by wearing party shawls at the polling station in Nittur village of Khanapur taluk. She also complained to the Election Commission in this regard.
