Mumbai

Lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, the BJP’s candidate for the Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha seat, said on Saturday that extradition of accused individuals to India is a lengthy and costly process that needs improvement. Speaking to sources during his campaign, Nikam mentioned that transitioning from law to politics is like entering the second chapter of his career, moving from a court of law to the court of the people.

Extradition is a complex and expensive process. Foreign courts decide based on their laws and assess our evidence, Nikam noted, emphasizing the need to streamline this process. He added, I’m currently studying the issue and will have more to say later.

He praised PM Modi for enhancing India’s global stature and spoke of his plans to support welfare schemes and infrastructure development. I was working in the court of law, and now I’m working for the common man, following the BJP’s ideology, he explained. I joined politics because you can achieve a lot for the common man, as Modi has been doing for the past 10 years.

Nikam mentioned that although he’s new to politics, the overwhelming support from people has boosted his confidence. Regarding his constituency, he noted the need to address slum rehabilitation near the airport, an urgent issue requiring immediate attention.
