Chengdu, PTI

The Indian women’s badminton team, led by Isharani Baruah and Anmol Kharb, secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Singapore in their second Group A match of the Uber Cup tournament on Sunday. This victory propelled them into the quarterfinals.

Despite an initial setback with Ashmita Chaliha’s loss, the team rallied and convincingly won the subsequent matches. Their impressive performance showcased their skill and composure on the international stage. Additionally, China’s 3-0 win over Canada ensured both India and China’s progression to the next round.

India currently holds the second position in the group standings, behind China. The upcoming clash between India and China will determine the group’s leader. Notably, India’s history in the Uber Cup includes three semifinal appearances in 1957, 2014, and 2016. Meanwhile, the defending champions, the Indian men’s team, are set to face England in their second Group C match of the Thomas Cup on Monday, following their 4-1 victory over Thailand on Saturday.
